Ansel Pitcairn, fine artist and illustrator,
grew up in Crown Heights, Brooklyn. Born in London, England, Ansel
is the son of Trinidadians who emigrated to the United States in
the mid seventies.
After earning his Bachelor and Masters Degrees
in Illustration from New York's prestigious School of Visual Arts
he has successfully pursued a career in illustration while showing
his artwork regularly in group and one-person exhibits.
Ansel presently teaches anatomy at The School
of Visual Arts, as well as computer graphics at The Katharine Gibbs
School in New York City. His recent Children's Book, 'Portraits
of African-American Heroes' written by Tonya Bolden and published
by Dutton Books was released in January of 2004.
